Result Management PDF Print E-mail

The results of queries are returned from the DBMS to QiD, which stores them in its result tree.

Results can be viewed, organised, and exported (XLS, HTML, XML, CSV). Even when not visible in an analysis grid, the results are still there waiting to be recalled without re-running the query.

By default the results will be discarded when you exit QiD or invoke the 'Cleanup' command on the tree.  You can optionally flag some or all results to be retained permanenetly.  This means that you can save results and resume your analysis in a different session without having to re-run queries to get to the same point.  You can also save results as a handy source of reference information - for example a summary of Product holdings by Channel - to assist with future queries in the same general area.

Multiple result windows can be displayed simultaneously for side-by-side comparison or to follow a chain of reasoning through the course of your analysis.  Since the results are not discarded when you close a viewer, you can actualy manage more sets of results without having to keep a window open for each which crowds the workspace.

On each set of result data you can open multiple viewers.  The type (normal/vertical/pivot grid, chart, report) and various options of each viewer can be set so that you can analyse and present data in a variety of ways.

Query results can optionally be directed to a database table either on the same DBMS or on a different one. The target table can be an existing one or one created automatically by QiD, based on the relevant data. This provides easy data movement from any source to any destination that goes far beyond simple data import capability.  The data output can be performed manually after the query from the result tree or automatically at the time of the qery via the .Export script command.
